Sevier County Divorce Records

When a marriage is legally dissolved in Sevier County, the legal proceedings are conducted in the Chancery Court, which has jurisdiction over divorce matters within the 4th Judicial District. The resulting case file, commonly referred to as divorce records, includes the original divorce petition, the final decree of divorce, any property settlement or marital dissolution agreement, child custody and visitation orders, and child or spousal support orders. Divorce proceedings are generally treated as public court records accessible under TPRA and Rule 34, but adoption proceedings arising from divorce-related proceedings are sealed.

Certified divorce decrees are essential for legal name changes, remarriage, estate proceedings, and federal benefits applications.
